The design style of the Centre of Art is characterized by its simplicity and neatness. However, upon closer inspection, delicate details that the client is passionate about can be found hidden throughout the space, adding an element of surprise to everyday life.
What sets this residential project apart is its ability to cater to the client's desire for artistic display while also providing a space that promotes well-being and a sense of occasion. The design team at Henri Liu Interior Design Ltd has carefully crafted a space that not only meets the client's aesthetic preferences but also prioritizes health and safety.
One of the key considerations in the realization of this design was the selection of materials. The team opted for materials certified by EEWH, a green building certification in Taiwan, ensuring that the space is environmentally friendly. Additionally, the construction process was streamlined to minimize on-site processing procedures and reduce the production of harmful by-products.
The Centre of Art spans an area of 100 square meters, providing ample space for the client to express their artistic inclinations within the residential setting. The design team, led by Kuan-Heng Liu, has meticulously planned the layout and incorporated various elements to enhance the visual appeal of the space.
Lighting plays a crucial role in the design, serving as the main support for the overall aesthetic. By utilizing different color temperatures and ceiling lamps, the layers of light are enhanced, illuminating every detail of life within the Centre of Art.
The project was completed in September 2019 in Taipei, Taiwan. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted to ensure a cohesive and harmonious space. The use of the same color-tone coating for the ceiling and walls, as well as the unification of wood grain, creates a sense of unity within the space. The walls, cabinets, and decorative panels are presented with unified system particle boards, reflecting the client's desire for a minimal design style.
One of the creative challenges overcome in this design was the incorporation of elements that add layers and spark joy in everyday life. For example, the entryway features herringbone flooring, creating a focal point for the area. Iron pitched roof windows installed on the ceiling of the entryway allow natural light to flood in. Additionally, a screen positioned between the living room and entryway serves as both a partition and a small home bar, complete with a wine rack.
The Centre of Art by Henri Liu Interior Design Ltd is a testament to the power of design in creating a space that is not only visually appealing but also promotes well-being and artistic expression. This residential project has been recognized for its excellence and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that embody resourcefulness and contribute to quality of life improvements, making the world a better place.
